Itinerary

With your bikes delivered early on day two of your tour, it’s up to you which direction your days will take you. The two circular rides both include very special Suffolk coast and countryside, providing an interesting variety of history and landscapes to cycle through along mainly quiet country lanes with some bridleway sections as an option.

Your base on this holiday is The Westleton Crown – a very special historic coaching inn where William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, stayed at the time of their first wedding anniversary.

Day 1 Arrive & explore

Arrive and perhaps take a stroll around the pleasant oh-so-Suffolk village of Westleton with its duck pond, village green and medieval church.

Day 2 Choice of circular rides

Take delivery of your bikes and enjoy your first day in the saddle.

Day 3 Choice of circular rides & depart

The circular rides:

We offer two circular routes, leaving you free to choose which day you wish to do them.

The north route (27-34 miles) heads inland through rolling countryside towards the historic market town of Halesworth before looping coastwards to popular Southwold. After crossing the Blyth estuary to the once thriving port of Walberswick, there’s a chance to enjoy the shady woodland of this Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and cliff top monastic ruins at Dunwich or detour to the marshlands of RSPB Minsmere before returning to Westleton.

The route south (22-24 miles) leads down through pretty villages and relaxing countryside towards the River Alde and the historic fishing village of Aldeburgh where fishermen still sell their catch from huts along the shore and the medieval moot hall sits stranded near the beach. The path between the Edwardian holiday village of Thorpeness and Aldeburgh makes for perfect sea air cycling alongside the shingle stretch.
