The River Ill and the UNESCO World Heritage Site are right on your doorstep, but your two wheels and the city’s extensive network of cycle paths are the way to explore Strasbourg’s many contrasts. Heading out of town, you’re spoilt for choice with four scenic day rides, including historic Colmar and the ‘Grand Crus’ Wine Road around Riquewihr (train and tour); the La Bruche wine route canal and historic farmsteads of the Ackerland; the German Rhine borderlands and the delightful woodland gardens of the Château de Pourtalès Robertsau along the Rhine.
There is a choice of excellent circular rides exploring the historic towns and villages, castles and vineyards of the Alsace Wine Road and Franco-German borderlands of the Rhine. Train tickets are included for you and your bike to travel down into the heart of vineyard country (out to Sélestat/return from Colmar) and are valid for use on any one day of your stay.
Your base on this holiday is the Hotel Regent Petite France, a 5 star deluxe hotel situated right within the Strasbourg UNESCO World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Ill.
