About us? Our focus is on your time

It’s your activity holiday and we want you to feel better for it.
We’d like you to relax, before you even arrive. We know you’ll enjoy the breath-taking scenery, sense of space or great array of historic offerings all the more if you have no worries about the smooth operation of your holiday. We understand that a successful, relaxing holiday starts with your peace of mind.
At our base under huge Suffolk skies, we’ve been listening and learning from our customers since 1991. Over this time we have refined and added to our tours portfolio, developing programmes in Europe too, but never lost our very personal touch. Our sister company Walking Breaks, also operates tours in England around our favourite parts
of Suffolk and Norfolk.
Our customers share their experiences with us and many come back to book with us again.
In this internet age, we appreciate that choice is at your fingertips. Again and again though, we see proof that our high level of service, valuable local knowledge and attention to detail is very much appreciated and considered good value for money.

Transporting luggage from place to place
Travel light with just the bare essentials - camera, book, binoculars, picnic, etc. In the morning, we pick up your bags and ensure they are waiting for you by late afternoon at your next night’s stop.
Characterful accommodation that’s comfortable and well chosen
Admittedly, when it comes to putting your feet up, roaring log fires and cosy armchairs might be a priority for some. We can’t make any promises there, but - even in Europe - we do select the accommodation for our cycling breaks according to our own criteria and clear standards.
Great bikes provided…
We supply hybrid tourers, a comfortable bike, more rugged that a road bike, but lighter and faster than a mountain bike. They’ve got easy to use gears, flat or ‘quarter-rise’ handle bars and are available with a ladies’ or gents’ frame. Panniers, handlebar bags, map holders and support equipment are supplied.
Or bring your own
If you’d prefer to bring along your own bike, that’s fine by us. We’ll even give you a discount, and should you have a problem with it whilst on the tour, we’ll bring you a replacement bike for the rest of your holiday, charging back the discount you were given.
On the road support
If your bike develops a problem, we’ll come and find you and get it sorted. Before you start though, we ensure your bike is a ‘good fit’ and you receive a briefing about the route and how to make contact in case help is needed. We’ll also run through basic bike repairs such as punctures - unfortunately though, it’s only on our Suffolk tours that we’re able to come to your aid on these.
Freedom and flexibility
With only a couple of exceptions, you can start your break in England on any day of the week and are welcome to add extra nights to the beginning or end of your stay, or along the way, if available. In Europe, it’s only our tours in France and Italy which tend to start on set days of the week, but again, we’re on hand to help book extra nights at either end of your stay in particular and can give you useful tips for travel to and from your chosen destination.
Graded itineraries, maps, guides and detailed route notes
We’re enthusiastic cyclists ourselves, so we don’t underestimate the role of a comfortable, well-planned, meticulous itinerary through inspiring scenery. The pace of your break and the distances you cover are up to you, so you can be as active or relaxed as you wish, visit the sights you want to see and enjoy every minute of your holiday.
All our tours are graded as some routes offer more challenges than others. Most routes feature a range of detours and all our tour descriptions detail minimum and maximum mileages (some longer trips may offer rest days).
Grades 1-3 are suitable for the moderately fit. If you are planning to take the longer route options, it is advisable to be reasonably fit.
Grade 1 |
Very Easy Very short rides. Mainly flat terrain. Some small hills. |
|
Grade 2 |
Easy Slightly longer rides. Mainly flat terrain. Some small hills. |
Grade 3 |
Moderate |
Grade 4 |
More challenging Longer rides with more frequent climbs and descents, and occasional (though possibly avoidable) challenging climbs. |
The mileages of the routes do vary, considerably at times, but we’ve tried to explain this clearly in the tour descriptions. As a guide ’occasional’ cyclists should expect to cover between 6-10 miles an hour at a gentle pace, allowing for short stops on the way.
There’s nothing we enjoy more than pedaling the routes ourselves and getting the detail right. Far from introducing you to run-of-the-mill experiences, we aim to share valuable local tips which enable you to relax into what the regions really have to offer and allow you simply to go with the flow.
A note on our European holidays
Many years ago specialist cycle tour operators from Europe approached us to look after their clients when holidaying in Suffolk. Our relationships developed, and in 2002, we decided to reciprocate. The tours we offer in Europe blend our experience and understanding with the expert knowledge of our local partners who share our commitment to quality, service and great cycling.
We have developed our European programme slowly, choosing tours carefully. We visit the hotels personally, refining any suggested selections and prepare our own detailed route notes from our own research. Although not always able to guarantee the same organisational flexibility on offer through our UK tour programme, we work with our expert partners to accommodate special requests wherever possible.
Gentle adventures - expertly organised
At every stage of your enquiry and booking, you can speak with one of our knowledgeable team personally. We’re at the end of a phone too, should you need us during your stay.
We take care of everything from good bikes and places to stay to taxi transfers, from moving your luggage along to your next hotel, to preparing a personalised itinerary for your party.
We value your peace of mind, so we’ve also ensured that your holiday payment is safe with us, through our secure online payment system and protection secured through our IPP insurance cover.
