Here’s an encounter with coastal Suffolk that’s a real breath of fresh air. From your comfortable coaching inn by the charming village greens of Westleton, two circular day rides introduce you to some of Suffolk’s inspirational icons and plenty of its secrets too. Visit arty market towns and old fishing villages; mighty medieval churches and cliff top ruins or look up to the House in the Clouds, to Southwold’s lighthouse and its famous fine brewery. From heathland, woodland to smooth rolling countryside, truly unspoilt coastline and curvaceous creeks, it’s a landscape to fall in love with. And if that doesn’t set your heart a flutter, there’s always the east coast’s premier birdwatching spot on your doorstep at Minsmere.

With plenty of places to visit, a great balance of truly unspoilt coast and countryside and simply super cycling, this single centre tour makes for a really relaxing break based in a wonderfully ‘Suffolk’ location. What’s more you’ll find freshly caught fish, Adnam’s famed Southwold ales, locally reared pork and acres of tasty farm produce on your short break menu, so this Suffolk tour is without doubt, a treat for the taste buds too.
With your bikes delivered early on day two of your tour, it’s up to you which direction your days will take you. The two circular rides both include very special Suffolk coast and countryside, providing an interesting variety of history and landscapes to cycle through along mainly quiet country lanes with some bridleway sections as an option.
Your base on this holiday is The Westleton Crown - a very special historic coaching inn where HRH Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge stayed at the time of their first wedding anniversary.

The circular rides:
We offer two circular routes, leaving you free to choose which day you wish to do them.
The north route (27-34 miles) heads inland through rolling countryside towards the historic market town of Halesworth before looping coastwards to popular Southwold. After crossing the Blyth estuary to the once thriving port of Walberswick, there’s a chance to enjoy the shady woodland of this Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and cliff top monastic ruins at Dunwich or detour to the marshlands of RSPB Minsmere before returning to Westleton.
The route south (22-24 miles) leads down through pretty villages and relaxing countryside towards the River Alde and the historic fishing village of Aldeburgh where fishermen still sell their catch from huts along the shore and the medieval moot hall sits stranded near the beach. The path between the Edwardian holiday village of Thorpeness and Aldeburgh makes for perfect sea air cycling alongside the shingle stretch.
