Day One Arrive at Needham Market, explore the area and spend your first night in or near this small market town.

Day Two Cycle east via the colour washed houses and antique shops of Debenham to Saxtead Green, where you can walk around the beautifully restored windmill. The superb 12c castle, complete with massive earthworks and curtain wall, awaits a few miles further at Framlingham. Your route then turns south to the charming little town of Woodbridge, which is your base for the next two nights.

Day Three Either a rest day in Woodbridge or an opportunity to see some of the beautiful and unspoilt coastline. You can complete a circuit of the Deben estuary visiting the traditional seaside resort of Felixstowe before taking a small ferry across the river mouth. Alternatively, you can drop in on the arts community at Snape Maltings and see Orford Castle and the Ness, Shingle Street and the Anglo-Saxon ship burial at Sutton Hoo. Boat trips can also be taken on the Alde, from Snape and Orford, or on the Deben, from Waldringfield.

Day FourAn opportunity to explore the quay and Tide Mill at Woodbridge before cycling through rural Suffolk to return to Needham Market, possibly stopping for a cream tea at the beautiful Helmingham Hall Gardens on the way. Further options include a riverside pint and possible boat trip, or a peaceful walk through the woodland garden at Blakenham
