Biking tours Europe
If you're looking for biking tours in Europe, you've come to the right place. Cycle Breaks offers a range of fabulous cycling tours in Europe, each hand-picked for their excellent bicycling terrain, beautiful landscapes, and fascinating places to visit.
Our self-guided biking tours in Europe are available in three countries. Take a look at our delightful breaks in France, Austria and from 2008 in Italy.
Why choose a bicycling tour?
Cycle breaks are relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. There can be nothing more restful than cycling along peaceful country lanes, pedalling at your own pace through some of the loveliest corners of Europe. And yet, it's exciting to be on a voyage of discovery, enjoying new encounters with the local people, the food, the culture, landscape and history of a region.
A bike tour is a chance to slow down and savour the world around you, appreciating things you so often miss when rushing past in a car. Peek over a hedge and discover a stunning view, smell the fragrance of summer pastures, hear the birds in full song, and find tucked-away delights from picturesque ruins to friendly local cafes. Stop as you please to sample a tempting local speciality, a stunning view, or an intriguing antique shop.
It's a healthy holiday you'll feel great after all that fresh air and exercise (so much more revitalising than just lounging on a beach!) And for those with a green conscience, you'll appreciate the fact that pedal power is easy on the environment, too.
As gentle or as challenging as you like you decide the level our tours cater for everyone from grandparents to young children, so the whole family cycles and has great fun together. And because our tours are self-guided, you holiday only with your own party. It really is your holiday.

We choose to remain specialists, providing a small number of top-quality tours where every detail is considered. We have day-to-day control of our English tours and work closely with our carefully selected European partners to ensure that your holiday abroad is of the same excellent standard. For all tours, we have covered every kilometre, visited each hotel and written all of the directions and notes.
What is a typical day?
You can use your route notes and maps as you please - y ou are your own tour guide! Most days will include 20-30 miles of cycling, but we generally give you alternative routes, so you can do more, or less, depending on how the mood takes you. You'll have plenty of time for that delicious lunch in regional café, and for exploring a local vineyard. Suggestions for the best eateries en route and local places of interest, from markets to castles, are all mentioned in our itineraries. We give you the options you simply pick and choose.
What do the evenings offer?
After your day in the saddle, you'll be assured of a warm welcome at one of our delightful 2 or 3 star hotels (usually 3 or 4 star in Austria), specially selected for their character and comfort. Your evenings are free to spend sampling the regional gastronomic delights and a glass of wine, and exploring the local area. You can either relax over a three-course dinner at the hotel in our French breaks dinner is included or sample the cuisine at an eatery nearby, which we can also recommend.
